We understand that your privacy is of critical importance. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from you via the website and how we use and disclose such information.
We collect the following categories of personal data from you:
When registering or claiming a listing on findcaterers.co.uk (the “site”), you provide your email address, chosen username and password, and business information, which may include images. Passwords are stored securely (hashed), and we do not have access to your plaintext password.
We use this information to let you log in, manage, and display your listing correctly, and contact you about your account or catering listing. If you’ve given your consent, we may also contact you with partnership opportunities or related communications.
When you fill out a contact form on the site we only collect the information you enter into the contact form. If the form asks for your name, email address, or any other personal information, then that information is sent to us via email. If you contact us directly via the email address listed on the site, we may also collect the information you provide in that message.
We retain that information—including your email address—for as long as necessary to address your purpose in contacting us. We do not send marketing newsletters or promotions without your explicit opt‑in.
Spam-filtering services may also process data you enter in public fields to detect abuse. We use technical data (e.g. IP addresses, login history) and anti-spam tools to protect the site and our users from abuse. For example, we detect and block automated attacks, spam submissions, or fraudulent account activity. This is based on our legitimate interest to ensure the site’s security.
When visitors leave reviews on the site, we collect the data shown in the reviews form, any media uploaded and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
This data is stored so we can display the reviews and ratings publicly on the relevant listing page.
We do not collect your email address from the comments form for any email list, such as a newsletter or marketing email list.
We automatically gather technical data when you visit or use the Site. We use automatic data collection technology (Google Analytics) to collect certain information about your device, browsing actions, and patterns. This generally includes information about where you are, how you use our website, and any communications between your computer and this site. Among other things, we will collect data about the type of computer you use, your Internet connection, your IP address, your operating system, and your browser type.
We collect this data for statistical purposes and we don’t collect personal information. The purpose of this data is to understand site traffic so we can improve our site and offerings.
If you wish to opt out of Google Analytics so that none of your personal information is collected and stored by Google Analytics, you can download and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on here. For more information on how Google collects and uses your data, you can access the Google Privacy Policy here.
If you use the “Find near me” feature, it will request your precise location via your browser’s Geolocation API. You will see a prompt asking for permission—nothing is collected unless you click “Allow.” This location data (latitude/longitude) is used solely to show nearby caterers and is not stored or shared beyond that purpose.
Your choice to “Allow” our site to access your location may be remembered by your browser if you select the “Always allow” or similar checkbox. If you don’t, or if you later change your mind, you can revoke or adjust that permission at any time via your browser’s site‑permission settings.
A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.
We use cookies for the following purposes:
We will not set non-essential cookies on your device before obtaining your consent. We display a cookie banner or notice when you first visit, explaining that the site uses cookies. By clicking “Accept” or continuing to browse the Site, you consent to the use of non-essential cookies. You can manage or withdraw consent for cookies at any time via the banner or your browser settings.
Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies and to delete cookies. The methods for doing so vary from browser to browser, and from version to version. You can, however, obtain up-to-date information about blocking and deleting cookies via these links:
Please note that blocking cookies may have a negative impact on the functions of many websites, including our site. Some features of the Site may cease to be available to you.
Images can be uploaded to the site when submitting reviews or when business owners add images to their listings.
If you upload images to the website, please ensure they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract this information.
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g., Google Reviews).
If you click through to those websites, they may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We don’t sell or share the data we collect with anyone. Certain technical data may be processed by third parties (e.g. spam filters, analytics services) as explained above, for the purpose of operating and securing the site.
If you leave a review or comment, the content and its metadata are retained indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete it.
For users who register on our website (catering business owners), we store the personal and business information they provide in their account profile and listing. Registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username) and edit/update the business listing.
If you contact us through a form or by email, we retain your message and contact details only for as long as necessary to reply or follow up.
The site does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 16. If a parent or guardian believes that the site has personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 16 in its database, please contact us at team@findcaterers.co.uk, and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, to reflect new legal requirements or changes in our services). When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date below and post the new policy here. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.
